Chicago Dermal Fillers

Chicago dermal fillersDermal fillers (wrinkle fillers, face fillers) are materials which can be injected into or underneath the ski. Dermal fillers can bring back lost volume, smoothen face lines and can give you a youthful fresh appearance. Dermal fillers give quick outcomes that you can see just after the injection is done. Results are even better when dermal fillers are combined with thread lift and/or Botox.

Dermal fillers are used to restore volume and enhance the facial look. They are used for lip augmentation, cheek augmentation, smoothening lines around the mouth (Marionette lines at the corners of the mouth and Smoker’s lines of the upper lip).

Fillers are also used for filling of the hollow area under the eyes and for scar treatment. For lip augmentation, Dermal fillers add volume and definition and enhance shape of the lips. One injection may be adequate to make great effect. For cheek augmentation, fillers restore lost volume and tighten sagging skin of the middle and lower face.

There are two categories of dermal fillers; hyaluronic acid fillers and synthetic fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers (for example Belotero Balance®) are great for filling deeply etched skin lines such as lipstick lines of the lips. Belotero Balance® lasts about 6 months. Belotero dermal filler is quite clear. Therefore, it can be injected just under the surface of the skin. Synthetic fillers (for example Radiesse) create more durable benefits and are used for volume restoration such as in cheek augmentation. Results with Radiesse last for 12 – 18 months.

Injection of dermal fillers may cause some unwanted side effects that often temporary. Side effects include local reaction, bruising, or hardening at the site of injection. Some patients develop headache, cold sores, or lip numbness. Skin infection may develop at the injection site. More serious side effects include tissue ischemia, severe allergic reactions, or embolism due to accidental injection into a blood vessel.
